Bonspiel

team martin (icky, chip, tricky, michy) reunited for the mixed kick-off spiel yesterday at EYCC. apparently we were suppose to come up with a team name that was perhaps football related, so we went with the stampeders and then found out we had to have costumes. unfortundately, chip was already at her bf's place and didn't bring anything red/white with her and michy only brought what she flew in with from illinois. icky had issues because he had nothing in red/white. so we were not so well coordinated, but we did bring a bunch of read objects to the game, including the team martin sign.

game 1 featured a back and forth game with both teams executing nice shots. we traded points back and forth the score was tied 4-4 after all 6 ends, so we went to the draw for the button. team broad drew to full 8-foot (nearly touching the 4-foot) so icky was left a draw to bite the 4 for the win. the release was clean but it ran just through the house, so we were left in defeat. icky has had to draw the button in every bonspiel he has skipped so far.

game 2 had us up against a dixie team. we controlled the game from the start and won handily 7-2.

game 3 had us up against a super good team that has won the game before and who curls rather competitively. they just didn't make any mistakes and we position for position stronger than our team by a longshot. but team martin hung in there and gave it all we had. icky played a bunch of circus shots, making a couple and coming centimeters away from executing others. circus shots are fun!

in the end, we didn't finish in the prizes and had crap luck on the draw prizes. on the other hand, the team we played against in game 3 kept winning draw prizes as did team ritchie (who iszy played with) and team hooper and the porters.

icky is feeling very confident with his new curling outfit after curling 4 really good games the last two days. he's looking for victories this week.
