icky -> lazy so stealing tricky's post & not as mad at aidan anymore

OMG, shang won the Soapspiel!
icky, shang and I curled Saturday at the Olympic Soapspiel at East York Curling Club. Basically, individuals registered for a specific curling position (lead, second, etc.) and got randomly thrown together into teams. 3 games were played, each with and against a different team. Anyway, the three of us joined last minute and each of us came away with a prize. shang ranked FIRST as a lead, and I ranked fifth. We both received a tub full of various soaps, detergents, paper towels, etc., but shang's was much bigger than mine. In between curling matches, there was a game where each participant had 5 cards with trivia questions of increasing difficulty pertaining to the Olympics. We filled out our answers, and the top three in each curling position received gold, silver and bronze medals (these were bars of soap of the given colour attached to ribbons). There was a tiebreaker question as well: how many medals did Canada win at the previous 5 Winter Olympics combined? (57 was the answer.) icky not only won the gold medal in the vice position, getting all 5 of his questions correct, but he was the closest in the tiebreaker, giving a medal count of 55. As a result, he won this big basket of goodies, including 3 bottles of wine, cookies, cheese and chocolates. This was an amazing feat for the three of us, and by far the best experience I've had at any bonspiel I've played in. (We usually came away with nothing, or at best some of the crappier door prizes given out in a raffle.) Hooray for Team Martin!
