Martin vs McCoy

Team Martin made up their Friday mixed game against McCoy yesterday. They were not expecting victory against this much stronger team (who also had sub Cory Mark playing with them at lead). Furthermore, Team Martin really didn't want to win, because a win would probably result in a 3-2 record for both McCoy and Martin when the final game is played in 2 weeks, which would move Martin up based on record (Team Martin did not want to move up).

End 1: Playing on sheet 6, Team Martin lost hammer, but were giving hammer so McCoy could take the better blue stones. Martin had one rock buried until McCoy made a raise takeout to sit 2. Icky attempts to thread the needle to take 1, but wrecks. They lead 2-0.

End 2: Icky was forced to draw against 1 way wide around a guard. He basically had to catch as much of the 8-foot as he could see (needing to put the rock right on the teeline. Good sweeping gets us perfectly there.

End 3: McCoy had a chance for 2 but misses to take 1 and a 2 point lead.

End 4: McCoy had one rock on the button buried. Icky plays a nice runback on a McCoy stone to remove the McCoy stone in the house to sit 1. McCoy tries a draw but bumps a Martin rock in, leaving icky a free draw for 3. Success! Martin leads 4-3.

End 5: Team Martin steals 1.

End 6: McCoy takes 1 to trail by 1.

End 7: Icky tries to keep it simply, but after two badly missed takeouts by shang, McCoy sat two. McCoy throws a third rock to bite the 4-foot, leaving icky a draw to the 4-foot for 1. As he released he felt a large vibration on the rock. The rock ran super straight and didn't curl an inch, possibly as a result of the vibration. However good weight cut them down to 2.

End 8: Nice corner guards and hits leave Martin a chance for 2. Icky's first was a quiet hit to sit 2 which he makes. McCoy tries a freeze but comes up well short. Icky doesn't even need to throw his last to win it 7-6. Team Martin were to play Baigent in 2 weeks, but they are forfeiting (unless they don't get snow to ski). Thus we will for sure go to 3-2. Icky thinks he will just record the score as a tie to avoid moving up (Baigent is in no danger of going up himself).

Meanwhile, ichy was defeated by Scotty in Monday Mens action. In even bigger news, ICHY HAS NO HAIR! Well, a lot less than before. I think he was forced to cut it before he went to Kuwait for fear of being murdered.
