Game 2: Martin vs Harrison
Icky was quite intent to play three games today and to get there we would have to get by Sean Harrison (w/ Matt Shepherd throwing third). Sean is the son of Neil Harrison, who is a Brier and world champion lead with Ed Werenich ("The Wrench").
End 1-3: Greg loses hammer, but that ensures us red stones for a third straight game. We start strong and steal 2, 1, and 1 to take a 4-0 lead.
End 4: Icky attempts an in-off to get at shot rock but misses. Sean draws for his deuce.
End 5: Sitting 3 and buried, icky attempts to run back the opposition guard, but he slips out of the hack. and just gets the peel. Fortunately, Sean's final rock slips into the house just a bit deep, leaving a triple and stick opportunity as shown.
Icky nails it to escape with 1.
End 6-7: We exchange singles to lead 6-3.
End 8: We dodge a bullet in this end. The situation looks as follows after third stones. Though we sat second shot, we were in jeopardy of a big end. Icky is convinced to play a risky shot as shown. If he got this outside, he could drive that rock into our own and have the opposition sit 3 or 4. Although icky liked the shot, he was afraid of playing it. However, in the back of his mind, he knew he was making everything and decided for it.
Spectacular throw! We guard on last rock, leaving Sean a runback for two which he misses.
End 9: We steal two more and they call it a game.
Endnotes: Neil Harrison was quite a nice guy. Apparently you're suppose to annoy him by telling him you prefer Russ Howard over Ed Werenich.
