Martin vs Leblanc

Our second playoff game in mixed was made up today. Martin was up against Leblanc. We went in 0-2 against this team but we've been playing well as of late. Meanwhile, Team Moon (Monday Mens) was playing their finals against Team Murray.

End 1: Without hammer and on sheet 1, we play a nice end. Good hits by shang to start the game and icky makes a raise to sit one on his first that ended up counting. We lead 1-0.

End 2: Team Leblanc gets one buried behind centre guards. Icky was considering a peel on the guard with his first, but a runback of a Leblanc guard was tempting. He weighed his options and decided on the runback of a halfway guard. Perfection! The key was avoiding two possible jams which would have been disastrous. Roger fails to execute a draw with his last and we count two.

End 3: Another solid end leaves us with 1 for a 4-0 lead.

End 4: Leblanc finally gets on the board with 1. Icky pretty much conceeded him the one by hitting second shot rock with his last.

End 5: A solid end of hits by tricky and shang leaves us sitting 3. Leblanc hits and then icky hits in return to sit 3. Leblanc attempts a freeze on his last that is well short, a theme all game on his draws. Icky cooly draws in for his 4th counter to lead 8-1.

End 6: Leblanc finally makes a draw to count 2.

End 7: Icky misses two wide takeouts in a row to give a steal of 1. The lead is 4.

End 8: In the last, Leblanc was desperate to steal. However, Team Martin just made everything. Icky's last was a precision takeout and stick for 5. Done! 13-4 win and it mvoes us 2-0 in the playoffs. A win against Team Baigent on the 21st will give us first place in the bottom div. Meanwhile Team Moon was simply outplayed by Team Murray. A good result for this first year team. Scotty has proven himself as a worthy skip. Good luck to Team Moon mixed in their Tuesday semifinal.
