The mixed curling season has begun. Pat (tricky), meesh (michy), mere (chip), and I got our first chance to play for real together.
The match started with us losing the coin toss. We did okay in end one by giving up one point to regain hammer, but then gave a steal of 2 and 3 in the next two ends. But we scored our first points the next end with a fantastic 4. After a bad sweeping call on my part which gave 2 points to the other guys insteald of a likely steal on our part (i called too much sweeping on a draw through the port), we came back with 2 of our own when mere got lucky with a missed draw (it rubbed the front and came into the house behind guards) and then i made a nice tap back with last rock. Our opponents got 2 in the next after I missed two missed draw through the ports. So we trailed by 4 going into the last end; not much chance of winning, but wanted to give my team the extra practice. And it was a good idea as i had my team play a few hits (very few during this game). I made a nice double with my first rock to sit one and then made a good draw to the four-foot with last rock to secure the 2 points, and a 8-10 loss.
The team improved as the game progressed. Some minor wipeouts during the sliding from michy and tricky, but chip was flawless! And we scored more points in this game then my other two games this week combined (where I only scored 5 points). Looking forward to next week, but it will be without michy and possibly without chip.
