September
Having gone over a month without a post, I feel obligated to scribe something tonight. Curling season is nearing. The days are getting shorter. Work is still work.
There were rumblings of a fall election in Canada. It appears that the Tories will avert a loss of confidence this week as both the Bloc and NDP have all of a sudden gotten cold feet after opposing the government ferociously over the past year. Strategically a great move by the Grits to come out swinging as parliament resumes. Hard to say whether the Bloc and NDP will continue to support the Tories, but if an election doesn't happen soon, it probably will not be called near the Olympic period, which means Harper may survive till at least till March.
South of the border, Obama is pushing for health care reform, something that Clinton was unable to do during his presidency. But the apetite for change is greater now than before, exaserbated by the recent economic crisis. Also, the Democrats have majorities in the House and Senate, something Clinton did not have during his time. Let's hope some progress can be made. The 50 million Americans without health insurance deserve better.

50 million is an over-estimate... most sources cite 5-10% of the population being w/o insurance and benefiting.
Of course, Obama's plans all depend on the fruits of the ARRA and whether or not the savings are realized to finance everything!
Jason. America needs you.
