Friday: Martin vs Mark

We were also at risk of dropping down after an errant shot against Shepherd blew the game and some awful play by the girls required some drastic corrective measures from icky just to give us a chance in the last end for a steal.

End 1: I'm not sure what happened. I thought we won the toss but the guys chose rocks on sheet 6. We ALWAYS take hammer, people! Sloppiness from our team led icky to attempt two runbacks to no avail. They draw for the trey.

End 2: Icky again has to play two runbacks but can't make them. They steal 1.

End 3: Icky finally makes a runback and we get our single.

End 4: Icky makes a nice double against 3. Bing had a draw for his 2 but comes up short. He leads 5-1.

End 5: After a great draw by tricky behind cover to outcount a Mark rock on the back 4, we catch a break when Team Mark's freeze taps tricky's rock up and rolls just completely open. Without them tapping tricky's rock up, it was going to be difficult getting a second rock into the 4 -foot to count. Shang then makes a nice heavy draw tol roll off the Mark rock just thrown and sit in the 4-foot for second shot, pushing the Mark rock to the back 8. Now icky decides it's time to make a move to sit 4 with one rock remaining for each team. Faced with the situation, he tries a flat double.


The shot was made to sit 4, Bing's final draw is short of the house, which causes icky problems as draw from both sides curled lots and could bump up red opposition stones. We throw it wide but there wasn't as much frost as icky thought. We tie the game.

End 6: Things looked dangerous. After a series of missed shots, icky was left with a draw through a port against 4 to the button with backing to sit one.

The rock hung and hung, but finally caught the curl to swoop in. Bing tries to follow us in but fails. We steal 1 to lead!

End 7: Icky's last was a fantastic hit and roll to sit 3.

Bing's draw rubs on our rock but rolls in to cut us down to 1.

End 8: Coming home up by two without hammer, we got one rock in on the button and guard guard guard. On Bing's first, he flukes a runback, he was trying to open it up and our rock could barely be picked out on the runback (you had to catch the inch that you could actually see. In any case, icky's final corner freeze was just a tad light, leaving Bing a draw for two to tie. They make it!
