Martin vs Harris (mixed)
We were making up a game against Alison Harris on Monday. Subbing for tricky was ikey who icky let skip the game. Again, we were trying not to win this game, and ikey made sure that wasn't gonna happen.
End 1: Some missed hits from hai at third stones and some suspect strategy left ikey in some trouble. Ikey is left with an angle raise double-takeout for 1 which he nearly makes. They steal 1.
ikey: good try but you should have peeled the front with your first rock!
End 2: A better end resulted in a draw for 1 which was nicely swept in.
End 3: Some more suspect shot calls leaves Harris with 3 stones in the house. Ikey attempts a draw with his first and crashes on the gaurd. Alison puts another in to sit 4 and ikey attempts a double takeout which also crashes. Alison draws calmly in for their 5.
ikey: should have peeled with your first. on your second, should have taken a hit and roll and conceeded 1 and only given them a draw for 2 (or a difficult shot for 3+). A successful double would have left them with an open hit for 3.
End 4: Ikey cooly draws in for his deuce with nice sweeping.
End 5: Team Harris strikes for 3.
End 6: Needing a piece of the button for 1 in a draw against 2, ikey throws a nice rock that goes a foot too deep. Not his fault nor the sweepers - as I always say, you can only expect sweepers to put it into the 4-foot for you.
End 7: After urging ikey to play one more end (because hai needed more practice, especially with hits, as she will be throwing last rocks against LeBlanc this week), we pull through with 4.
We are now sitting at 2-1-1. Harris is assured top spot at 4-0. A loss by Team Martin this week (which is what would be ideal) would keep us in the lowest playoff bracket.
