Tail Ender Bonspiel

Icky Martin teams up with Elana (lead), iszy (second), and ikey (vice) for the spiel. Had to wake up early for the 9 am draw. Three 6-end games.

Game 1
This started well on sheet 1 with hammer and getting 2. Then icky struggled, giving up 4, 1, and 2. Icky didn't have much of a chance against the steal of 1, but icky could have easily prevented the steal of 2 with a better draw down with backing. But, b/c of icky's not open style of play, we are able to get rocks in play and take 4 in the 5th with icky's last rock draw with backing. Then we set up a steal of 1 in the final end, sending the game to a draw to the button. Icky throws excellent, but too little sweeping leaves us full 12-foot. Opposition throws it through. We steal away a win (7-7).

Game 2
We take on Marc Gosselin, whom we lost to badly on Friday mixed yesterday in a fun game. This time, the entire team played impecably. icky drew for 3 in the first and followed up with back-to-back steals of 1. They take 1 and steal 1 to close within 3 with us having hammer in the last. Our team plays perfect, running them out of stones. Icky plays a hit for 2 to win 7-2.

Game 3
We played the kid, Devon Wong, in the battle of the 2-0 teams. We were on the dreaded sheet 2, a sheet my team hates. We get off to a strong start, stealing 1. But then it goes downhill as Devon scores a total of 6 points in the next 4 ends. Icky just couldn't make any shots and his rock 7 seemed to run extra straight, compounding the problem. We get 1 with a draw to the button in the 6th to lose 6-2.

The Result
We end up 8 out of 22 teams and are in the prizes! On top of that, iszy goes away with $25 on a poker game and icky takes $5. Great curling team. That was really enjoyable and we played pretty good overall.
