What went wrong for John Kerry? It just seems the American public never felt comfortable with him as their commander-in-chief. So did Bush win by default? No. Bush played to America's fears and convinced them that he was willing to act to defend America. His war on Iraq, with the most sketchy of intelligence, whether right or wrong, gave Americans the sense that he would protect them at any cost. After the events of September 11th, Americans have felt in danger, and they voted with this fear in mind. Kerry was the more intelligent man, the better spoken, more statesman like, less antagonistic, more centrist, more progressive, less provocative, but the single issue that resonated with voters was Bush's supposed willingness to go to war to protect them. The world is watching the President's next move, and if he has not learned from the past 4 years, this world, like America, will remain divided.
